Miracles happen

What a day for the Islanders organization. The pokecheck we've come to expect got the Islanders into the playoffs. And Hartford... well, you always want to control your own destiny. The Sound Tigers did until Saturday night, and now Jarkko Immonen's hat trick and Bobby Sanguinetti's first two pro apples has given that control back to Bridgeport. Of course, to exercise that control, the Sound Tigers may have to do what Albany couldn't and win in Hartford...

So Bruno probably goes back up. Tambellini no doubt stays, and Dubielewicz remains as long as he's needed.

BTW, I had Hartford's record totally messed up: Manch clinched the division the other night. A point gained by Hartford or lost by Worcester secures second for the Pack. (I think.)

  • Congrats to the Isles and great job by Dubie. I believe this might have just earned him a spot in the NHL for next year, with the Isles I hope but ya never know. I had a question Mike, say Ricky comes back from the concussions for the playoffs would the Islanders be allowed to send Dunham down to Bpt or is there a clause in his contract preventing the Isles from sending him down.

  • Actually, it's a clause in the CBA. A player who's on the NHL roster at the trade deadline can't be sent down afterward. (That's why there are always those weird "paper transactions" at the deadline, like Campoli and Gervais this year: they're technically in the AHL at 3 p.m. that day, so they can then go up and down.)

  • Ricky is seeing a neurologist today so there should be news about whether or not he'll be heading to Buffalo for Thurs.

  • I am so torn! If I hope for Dubie to be sent back to Bpt., I feel guilty cuz he helped get the Isles to the dance and has earned an invite to the party. . .

    On the other hand . . .

If I wish for him to stay there for the playoffs, I am essentially praying for Ricky's concussion to be bad still (which I wouldn't wish on anyone) and it wouldn't help our BST either.

Ahhhh what to do, what to do.
