Nilsson wins POTW

The league in the past half-hour named Robert Nilsson the player of the week. He had four goals and three assists in the three games last week.

That keeps a streak alive: Bridgeport has had one and only one POTW in each of its six seasons.

  • First of all, don't jinx things. The 6th season just began, so we could end up with more then one Player of the Week award. It's a long way to the Cup.

And, where is your challenge to have someone come up with the other five winners?

  • Congrats to Robert! Never a doubt in my mind that he would win this week. I was in Hershey on Saturday with a friend of mine and Robert was definitely one of the best players on our team that night. He truly deserved the honor this week.

  • Well, if it changes, it changes... Not like I'm Bob Wischusen last night saying the "S" word three times in the third period of the Rangers game, the last right as Eric Perrin was backhanding the puck in to make it 4-1... Next try "Beetlejuice" three times, Bob, see what happens.

But consider the challenge on, there, Andy, if you wanna answer it. :-)

  • It's hard to remember that far back. I'm stumped on season 2 so I'll have to guess.

    01-02 - Juraj Kolnik (3 goals, 2 assists, +9)
    02-03 - Steve Valiquette??
    03-04 - Jeff Hamilton (4 goals, 1 assist)
    04-05 - Dieter Kochan (3-0, 1 shutout, 1.00 gaa, .971 sv%)
    05-06 - Wade Dubielewicz (3-0, 2 shutouts, .33 gaa, .989 sv%)

  • I do not think it was Valley in the 02-03 season. What I do think is for some reason I am thinking either DiPietro or Jason Krog.

  • Ok, well I found it. We are all wrong, it is Trent Hunter in the 2002-03 season.

  • I should have gone with Trent. That was what Martha was telling me, but I kept thinking goalie (so Ricky wouldn't have been a surprise).

How about a list of other Sound Tigers to have won the award for other teams.

Dave Roche (St. John), Ted Donato (Manchester), Eric Boguniecki (Worcester), Travis Brigley (Cincinnati), Peter Ferraro (Portland), Jason Krog (Chicago)
